The Galveston City Council canvassed Nov. 4 election returns and certified a $10 million bond measure for fire department and emergency facilities on Nov. 13. City staff reported the canvass numbers and the percentage in favor: 62.15% (3,336 votes).
City attorney and staff presented the updated numbers during the meeting, and the council moved to approve the canvassing resolution. Mayor Craig Brown and councilmembers thanked constituents who supported the measure.
The bond is intended to fund design, construction, acquisition and equipment for fire and emergency facilities, including replacement and construction of Fire Station No. 2 and acquisition of related land. Council approved the canvass as presented and the city will proceed with project planning and implementation per bond authorization and municipal procedures.
