Beaver County Library System announces winners of first annual county bookmark contest

The Beaver County Library System used the Nov. 13 Beaver County Board of Commissioners meeting to present winners of its first annual countywide bookmark contest and to outline plans for distributing the printed artwork across the county.
A library presenter said the contest—coordinated by program coordinator Courtney Polizzi—drew "hundreds of submissions that were all very, very, very awesome," and that submissions were professionally printed for distribution. The presenter said printed bookmarks will be placed in 12 library locations across Beaver County and thanked the Beaver County Association for School Librarians and contest sponsors, including Miniman Press, Keeper Falls and Heat and Cross Insulators Local Union No. 2, for supporting the initiative.
Four student winners were introduced and recognized by school and library affiliation: Kaley Ritten (K–2 category), a student at Hopewell Elementary School and a patron of Jones Memorial Library; Ava Burns (3–5), a student at Economy Elementary School and patron of Bing Memorial Library; Mia Bagani (6–8), a student at Ambridge Middle School and patron of Laughlin Memorial Library; and Haley Westfall (9–12), a student from the Rochester Area School District and patron of the Beaver Area Memorial Library. Commissioners and attendees offered congratulations and praised the library system’s community programming.
The presenter said bookmarks include a QR code linking to the library’s website so viewers can learn more about the contest and the artists. Commissioners commended the library system for engaging youth and supporting community activities; one commissioner noted personal family participation in library programs.
The presentation was purely celebratory; no board action was required. The county’s clerk or library staff will handle distribution of printed bookmarks to the listed library locations.
