West Willow third grader named to Iowa Pathfinder STARS program; CRCSD highlights campus learning

The Future Ready Today podcast celebrated Connor Gass, a third grader at West Willow Elementary, who was selected for the Iowa Pathfinder STARS program as one of 21 Iowa elementary students chosen for the extension of the National Math Stars program. Hosts said Connor placed in the top 2% in mathematics on the statewide assessment and that the program will support his math development with mentorship, community-based learning experiences and financial support for advanced STEM courses and camps for up to ten years.
"Awesome job, Connor," the hosts said, congratulating the student.
The episode also promoted Kennedy High School's 'Consider Kennedy' night on Monday, Nov. 17, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and shared classroom highlights: Kenwood Leadership Academy's third graders hosted a chiropractor for a CKLA follow-up; Cleveland third graders heard a woodwind quintet from Orchestra Iowa; McKinley STEAM Academy previewed Willy Wonka Junior for more than 400 future students; Metro STEAM Academy ran a market shopkeeper project; and Pierce fourth graders analyzed photos through geographical and economic lenses.
