Provo School District approves open enrollment for 2026–27, adopts staff-suggestion and minutes-recording policies

The Provo School District Board of Education voted unanimously to leave all district schools open for the 2026–27 open-enrollment period and approved two district policies during its business meeting at 280 West, 940 North in Provo.
District leadership recommended that every school remain open for the application period; applications will open Nov. 15, official counting begins Dec. 1 and the application window closes the first Friday in February. Superintendent Wendy Dow presented the recommendation and the board adopted it without dissent.
The board also approved Policy 15.50, which establishes a process for employees to submit suggestions to the board and for the board to determine whether action is warranted. The motion to adopt Policy 15.50 was made by board member Brianna Wagner and seconded by board member Boyce; the board recorded the motion as passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved Policy 14.15, which sets guidelines for recording and adopting meeting minutes and associated procedures. Board member Meg Van Wagonen moved approval and the board passed the measure unanimously.
The board discussed Policy 14.10 (notice of meeting), focusing on whether language about budget hearings provided adequate clarity. Superintendent Dow and members agreed the policy needed clearer wording and moved to return it to the policy committee for revision; the motion to table carried unanimously.
Other routine business handled in the same meeting included approval of a Centennial Middle School Land Trust Plan amendment and the consent calendar. The board adjourned with its next regular meeting scheduled for Dec. 9.
