McLaughlin, in prepared remarks, thanked family, church members, volunteers and campaign workers and invoked scripture as part of her remarks. "You are the heartbeat of this work and the hope of this city," McLaughlin said of students; she added she would "uphold that vision with integrity and dedication to every student, family, teacher, staff member and community partner across our city."
The host of the event (identified in the record as a member of the school board) thanked McLaughlin's supporters and noted that Clerk Gibson has served 46 years as Danville's Circuit Court Clerk. After the signing/penning portion and remarks, attendees were invited to refreshments.
