Several consent and briefing items drew brief discussion and clarifications at the meeting.
Grant clarification: Myrna Cronto of the grants division (Speaker 5) clarified that a park grant discussed earlier is for $816,000 and carries a 20% local match requirement. The grant-funded District 2 demolition/reconstruction project was described as coming in with bids lower than anticipated and therefore 100% grant-funded after adjustments.
Public-safety equipment: The commission heard about a planned purchase of a SWAT robot for $87,500 using CIP funds and a GSA piggyback contract; staff said the device will improve safety and intelligence-gathering during high-risk warrants.
Procurement and sole-source work: Staff noted a sole-source agreement for pump-blower work at $108,000 for city back trucks.
Museum updates and parade: Amendment 1 to the management agreement with the Boynton Culture Center/Children's Schoolhouse Museum will shift quarterly updates to monthly email updates, with in-person appearances optional for major changes. Staff also described the annual road closure for the holiday parade and tree-lighting advertising.
Strategic plan: Staff (Speaker 8) said a consolidated strategic-plan update will be presented by Gigi (economic development) and Amanda, aiming to complete priorities before the January budget season so commission priorities can be considered during budget development.
