Bruceville-Eddy council officially canvasses Nov. 2025 election, swears in new members and selects mayor pro tem

City staff read the county'certified totals for the mayoral and council races. The mayoral race was uncontested; the mayor was certified as re-elected. Councilmember Richard Prater and two other council results were read and incorporated into Resolution R11-13-2025-1, which Councilmember Wiggins moved to adopt and Councilmember Richardson seconded. The motion carried with unanimous support.
The council then scheduled the swearing-in of the newly elected members and discussed temporary city secretary staffing. The mayor said Pam Pones will remain city secretary until she steps down and that a replacement process is underway.
Separately, council members nominated and approved a mayor pro tem for the 2025''6 term after brief discussion. The council recorded the procedural motions and a vote in favor; no roll-call tally was provided in the meeting minutes.
The decision to canvass the election certifies the official vote totals and allows the city to complete post-election housekeeping, including seating newly elected officials. The council did not change certified results and took no additional contest actions during the meeting.
