Olathe Planning Commission approves final plat and easement vacation for industrial site serving Centaur Animal Health

The Olathe Planning Commission on a unanimous 8-0 vote approved FP25-34, a final plat and vacation of a portion of an existing water line to create a single 6.98-acre lot intended for a phased 60,000-square-foot industrial building for Centaur Animal Health.
Senior planner Emily Carrillo presented the application and said the property is located at 1225 West Pittman, in the vicinity of South Lone Elm Road and Old 56 Highway. She told commissioners the plat establishes lot lines, dedicates public easements, relocates and dedicates a 15-foot waterline easement and vacates a portion of an existing water line. "All public notification requirements were met," Carrillo said, and staff recommended approval of FP25-34 subject to the stipulations in the staff report.
The commission opened the public hearing but recorded that no members of the public had signed up to speak and closed the hearing without comment. Commissioner Jeff Creighton moved to approve FP25-34 subject to staff comments and stipulations; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call with Creighton, Corcoran, Breen, Brown, Brook Terrones, Brigida, Lynn and Chair Janner voting yes.
The plat will create a 6.98-acre lot intended to accommodate a phased 60,000-square-foot building to expand Centaur Animal Health's operations, which Carrillo said would be located to the south of the company's existing facility. The approval also relocates a 15-foot waterline easement around the site's perimeter and dedicates new sanitary sewer easements on the west side of the property.
In other business the commission approved a requested continuance for case SU25-4 to a future Planning Commission meeting and adopted a three-item consent agenda earlier in the session; both motions passed 8-0. Chair Janner also announced that Commissioner Creighton was elected to the Olathe City Council and that this would be his final Planning Commission meeting; Creighton thanked the commission.
The Planning Commission adjourned and noted there will be no meeting on November 24 because of the Thanksgiving holiday; the next regular meeting is scheduled for December 8.
