Summary
The Escondido Library Foundation committed up to $105,000 to buy equipment not covered by the city’s grant for the children's library remodel; the foundation will provide funds as needed rather than a single lump sum.
Jack Anderson, speaking for the Escondido Library Foundation, told the City Council the not‑for‑profit group is committing up to $105,000 to help furnish and equip the city’s children’s library as part of the ongoing remodel. Anderson said the foundation funds mural work and interior improvements in the past and that the foundation will deliver the funds to the city on an as‑needed basis rather than in one lump sum. "This check is not negotiable, by the way, mister mayor," Anderson said, adding the foundation will keep the funds invested and release them in stages.
Mayor White thanked the foundation for the donation and invited council members to join a photo with foundation members. The presentation took place at the start of the meeting before the ISKCON public hearing and the council’s later deliberations.
