On accountability compliance, staff explained TAP/TIP requirements tied to TEA monitoring and grant compliance. They said two campuses fell into categories requiring a turnaround plan or targeted improvement plan; Pecan Valley (previously low rated) and another campus were cited as needing plans and public meetings. Staff stressed that many action steps were already included in campus improvement plans and that the district’s approach is aligned to TEA’s Effective Schools Framework.
Regarding curriculum, staff said a new statutory requirement adds physical education for students in grades 6, 7 and 8; the district will present an eighth‑grade PE course for approval for the 2026‑27 school year and will notify families during the course selection process starting in February.
Procurement and finance items included quotes for two 2026 Ford F‑250 maintenance/service vehicles (single‑cab with service body $60,331.50; extended cab with reel/ladder rack $65,285.50) and a one‑page summary of certified tax rolls (as of Oct. 1) the board will be asked to approve at the next regular meeting; staff noted the current tax roll lists a $0.98 rate and that an amendment will later adjust the rate back to $0.93.
Staff also previewed a routine waiver of penalty/interest for an overcollection case ($530.64 plus $60.30 interest) and an electronic ballot where East Central ISD will cast its 89 allotted votes for a Bexar County board of directors election; the board will decide vote distribution at the regular meeting.
No formal votes for these items were taken at the workshop; several items were described as "first reading" or as matters that will return for action.
