Julie Hancock, the county elections administrator, presented Bannock County's canvass of the Nov. 4 election and explained a technical effect of entering same‑day voter registrations.
"Once you enter those, it actually dropped it down to 38," Hancock said, explaining the county's results management system did not include same‑day registrations until they were entered into the system. She also told commissioners countywide turnout was about 6,000 voters higher than in 2021 and that many same‑day entries were updates—address or name changes—rather than entirely new registrations.
Commissioners asked where same‑day entries were coming from; Hancock said of roughly 877 same‑day entries, several hundred were changes by voters already registered, and the city of Pocatello's registration count rose by about 300 because of a local runoff.
After the presentation and a short Q&A, Commissioner (S3) moved to accept the election results as presented; the board voted aye to certify the canvas on the record.
The board's action recorded acceptance of the county canvas; no recounts or contested certifications were noted on the meeting record.
