Parks staff told the Committee of the Whole that two projects — splash pad design and demolition of the former Splash Moraine building — were out to bid on Nov. 10 via BidExpress.
Staff said proposals are due Nov. 26, with contractor questions due by Nov. 19 so staff can respond in advance. The first week after the bid close will be used to review submissions, and staff expect to return with a recommendation to council at the Dec. 13 meeting.
Although exact dollar amounts will depend on bid results, staff said they plan to request supplemental appropriations to ensure the funds can be used before the end of the fiscal year. Staff reported heightened contractor interest for the demolition scope and encouraged expectations that several firms will submit bids.
No formal legislation was requested at the meeting; staff framed the segment as an informational update and said formal recommendations and any necessary legislation will come back to council in December.
