New Bedford council continues three Eversource public hearings to Nov. 25

The New Bedford City Council on Thursday received three advertised public hearings from NSTAR Electric Company doing business as Eversource Energy and voted to continue those hearings to the council's next regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
Clerk read proposed work that would locate two manholes and roughly 212 feet of conduit to serve 1418 Acushnet Avenue and Dean Street, about 10 feet of conduit and a handhold on Bolton Street to serve 41 Rockdale Avenue, and about 15 feet of conduit and a handhole on Purchase Street to serve 1546 Purchase Street. With no Eversource representative present, the council opened the hearings and asked whether any members of the public wished to speak.
Kim Farrow of 1546 Purchase Street testified in favor of the Purchase Street proposal: "My husband Joe and I are here, and, we agree with that plan. That's all I need to say." After hearing that there were no speakers in opposition, Councilor Ian Abreu moved to continue the three hearings to Nov. 25; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote.
Council President Shane Burgo told Farrow her support would be recorded and that the matter will appear on the Nov. 25 council agenda, when Eversource will have an opportunity to present. The council made no final determinations on the merits of the proposed work during Thursday's meeting.
