Summit County staff opened a public hearing on Nov. 14 to collect community input for possible Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects and received no public comment.
Amy (acting on behalf of Annette, who was ill) explained Summit County is eligible to apply to the Utah Department of Workforce Services for funding under the CDBG small‑city program, which is administered at the state level by the Utah Housing and Community Development Division. She said Mountainland Association of Governments held a mandatory how‑to‑apply workshop on Oct. 6, and attendance at that workshop provides bonus points for applicants. Amy told the council that Summit and Wasatch allocations for 2026 are approximately $635,000 and that applications are due online on Jan. 31, 2026.
Chair Roger Armstrong opened the hearing and invited ideas and suggestions from citizens; no one in the room or online rose to comment, and the chair closed the hearing. Staff emphasized the hearing was to gather ideas and not to review or approve specific applications at this meeting.
What’s next: The county will proceed with the CDBG application process; staff and any interested applicants must follow the state and Mountainland Association of Governments guidance and observe the Jan. 31, 2026 application deadline.
