The South Central Regional Transit District recognized David on Nov. 12 for 10 years of service to the district. Board members presented a certificate, a plate and a 10‑year pin during the public-input portion of the meeting.
A board member introducing the presentation said David "brought the district from the ground up" and praised his role as supervisor, dispatcher and driver in the agency's early years. David accepted the recognition and thanked the board and staff. "I've done this now for over 40 years...This one has been a challenge...we started with nothing," he said.
David described early resources and growth: he said the district started with "14,000 in the bank" and five buses from the legislature, and that the organization now operates with many more staff and capital resources. He also told the board he believed the district now "puts $3,600,000 into the budget into this community every year." Board members responded with thanks and personal recollections; multiple members called the organization a "family" and expressed appreciation for his leadership.
Project staff and board members used the ceremony to note the district's expansion across the region, and several members thanked David for helping extend services to Sierra County and other areas. The board adjourned at 2:01 p.m.
