Preston (airport operations) described the need to replace a 1999 Ford work truck used for airfield maintenance and snow duties and noted that some vehicles and GSE (ground support equipment) may be eligible for MassDOT ASMP funding at an 80/20 share. "This request is to replace a 1999 Ford F-250 maintenance truck… that is basically decommissioned, no longer in use," Preston said. Committee members discussed vehicle sizing (F-250 vs F-350), garaging constraints and whether purchases are true replacements or fleet expansions.
Staff also proposed a telehandler (boom forklift) and a skid steer to support maintenance and mitigation-area vegetation management; a skid-steer quote discussed on the record referenced a figure near $116,190. Preston said he will confirm exact quotes and any trade-in value before proceeding.
On the terminal, staff asked to continue investing in the seasonal tent’s frame and fabric to keep it serviceable while the airport pursues a larger terminal optimization/renovation grant (ATP). The airport manager said the town is working with consultants on a terminal reconfiguration to reuse underutilized interior space and reduce dependency on the tent. He also described recent investments to reduce aircraft APU use (two new GPUs, GSE storage planning) and a forthcoming noise wall on the south apron.
Maria reported the employee dorm is occupied by two full‑time staff and four seasonals and that the dorm has performed as intended. Committee members discussed broader employee-housing options — including land-leasing, private developer delivery and tradeoffs between buying existing housing versus building new — and asked staff to provide an overview of town housing efforts and AMI thresholds to clarify who the town housing would serve.
Staff did not request a final committee vote on all items at the Nov. 13 meeting; members asked for updated cost breakdowns, procurement details, and clearer funding explanations for future materials.
