Bolton reports return to pre‑pandemic achievement levels and strong AP results

"I think we have reached finally, our pre pandemic levels," Monica said, summarizing state assessment trends across grades 3–8. She outlined that the accountability report uses 12 indicators — including attendance, participation in arts and career-and-technical programs, and academic results — to produce a holistic view of district performance.
Monica highlighted Advanced Placement participation at Bolton High School: 62 students in grades 11 and 12 took advanced courses that produced 80 course enrollments and 126 AP exams; she reported that 91% of students who took AP exams earned a score of 3 or higher and 60% scored 4 or higher. The presenter linked AP success to the district’s School of Distinction recognition.
On finances and grants, the finance committee reported year‑to‑date expenditures at 23% of budget compared with 21% in the prior year. The packet showed $673,818 spent under grant programs and 4.3 FTE funded through grants; projected new grant monies were reported at $744,910. Superintendent (speaker 1) said two state grants remain under review: a 'seed grant' for special education support and a 'DRIP' grant related to facilities and maintenance.
Monica said the next steps include disaggregating assessment results for targeted interventions, continuing instructional-coaching strategies, and sustaining PLC and ILT data meetings to identify and support student needs.
Board members asked clarifying questions on the reports and the superintendent said the district will provide updates as pending grant approvals progress.
