Deb McGinty updated the Public Safety Coordinating Council on the 1800 Orient Road step-down project and announced a ribbon cutting is planned for January 22.
“This group in particular, Public Safety Coordinating Council has been involved in supportive of that effort since 2020,” McGinty said, and noted the facility is licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration for 85 beds with a current plan to dedicate 75 beds for males and 10 for females.
McGinty described the facility as licensed at residential level 2 (a 24-hour rehabilitative setting) and said projected lengths of stay are “between 60 and 90 to a hundred and 20 days,” noting that the length-of-stay figure is still somewhat fluid. She thanked representatives who have supported the effort since its early stages and said invitations to the ribbon cutting will be sent by Kevin Wagner.
The council did not vote on operating details, budgets or referral protocols during the update; McGinty’s report was informational and focused on the upcoming opening and licensure status.
