Licenses & Consumer Services district supervisor Craig Eliasson told the committee Baby Cajun plans casual dining with occasional live music; notices were sent to nearby residents and neighborhood associations and one supportive public comment was received. Counsel Daniel Christians and owner representatives spoke; the committee approved the item by voice vote.
Amy Lingo presented U Tobacco’s request to extend opening hours to 3 a.m.; staff recommended a conditional approval requiring the first six months to cap closing at 2 a.m., then allow 3 a.m. if no issues emerge. Two community comments opposed the extension (concerns about late-night impacts and tobacco promotion). Owner Mustafa said the family business has experience operating late hours and the second precinct police signed off on security plans; the committee approved the conditional extended-hours license.
Licensed inspector Ben Zinnel presented SIP of Silk’s request for a one-hour extension; staff reported no community opposition and police sign-off on a safety plan. Applicant Ahmed described the new coffee-house concept. The committee approved SIP of Silk’s extended-hours request.
What happens next: Approved licenses will be issued per standard licensing procedures and operating conditions; staff noted a six-month review for U Tobacco’s conditional hours.
