Evans outlined his professional qualifications: "I spent my career working for four different international banks in four different cities across Canada and the U.S.," he said, adding that the majority of his work was in commercial real estate finance for large projects. Vice Mayor Sircher, who said he had chaired the commission when Evans first served, praised Evans’ service: "Bruce was a very good commissioner... he definitely deserves to be reappointed," Sircher said.
A council member moved to appoint Evans to the Planning and Zoning Commission to a term renewing Oct. 31, 2026, and another member seconded. The clerk conducted an electronic roll-call vote; Council member Lopez was recorded as "Yes." The clerk or mayor initially said the motion passed "unanimously" and later announced a tally of "5 to 1." The motion was announced as passing and Evans was congratulated.
