"Once we have boots on the ground, we start making changes. As of today, we have had no incidents at that center, and that's been going on 2 and a half years," a community affairs presenter said, noting participant growth from roughly 65 to 120 in youth soccer and flag football and the addition of adult and senior programs.
Staff and commissioners also discussed service and safety gaps. Commissioner Kim asked about parking-lot lighting for evening programs and wayfinding signage; staff said they were pursuing grant funding to install lighting from the parking lot to the rear and planned temporary signage while developing a permanent branding/wayfinding plan. Staff said they were obtaining quotes for a fence and coordinating with schools on MOUs for shared programming.
