The board also adopted the same superintendent evaluation instrument used last year, a tool developed with assistance from the Georgia School Boards Association.
On policy, the board gave final approval to three items that had been posted for public input since the October meeting: GBRC (professional personnel workloads), IDDD (gifted student program), and EBB (safety). Dr. Thomas said no public input had been submitted during the comment period.
The board moved to direct the superintendent to engage with state legislators and the district attorney to propose legislation to correct an earlier proposal so the senior property tax exemption would apply to citizens over 62 earning up to $40,000 (the transcript references an original $25,000 limit and the need to align with the board’s intent). Board members had brief closing comments recognizing Veterans Week and extending Thanksgiving wishes. No members of the public requested to speak during the public participation period.
