The Nevada Senate convened a special session and the secretary called the roll; the presiding officer recorded 20 senators present.

Senator Dina Cannizzaro moved that the people listed at senators' desks be accepted and accredited as press representatives and allowed to use the Legislative Building's media facilities. "I would move that the persons noted on the, sheet at your desks be accepted and accredited press representatives and that they have allowed use of appropriate media facilities in the Legislative Building," Cannizzaro said. The motion was put to voice vote; the presiding officer called for ayes, there was no recorded opposition on the transcript, and the presiding officer declared the motion carried.

Senator Buck led the opening prayer and the Senate recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Cannizzaro informed the chamber that committees would resume hearings throughout the day and that the Senate would likely return to the floor later. She moved that the Senate stand in recess until the call of the chair; the presiding officer recessed the Senate with the statement, "We are in recess."
