Haywood Elementary students present 'Trojan Way' video and projects to Troy City Schools board

Students from Haywood Elementary's Trojan Way team attended the Troy City School District board meeting on Nov. 13 to present a short video and describe projects promoting kindness and teamwork.

Students including Sofia Richard (fifth grade), Reagan Marley (third grade), Grant Thurgood, Taylor Grace (second grade), Britta Wilson (second grade), Cecilia (fourth grade) and Madison Clifton spoke about activities such as creating posters, making videos for assemblies and operating a school store. "When we work together, we all get smarter and stronger," one student said during the presentation.
Board members responded with applause and praise. A board member commented, "It's working. Your togetherness is working," and the chair thanked the students and staff for sharing the program with the board. The presentation concluded with the board inviting the students to stay for part of the meeting and thanking them for their participation.
The board did not take any formal action related to the presentation; it was presented as part of the meeting's opening community engagement items.
