LCRA staff presented and the board approved a multi‑year Water Supply Resource Report that identifies a set of strategies aimed at achieving 60,000 acre‑feet of additional supply by 2040; staff described outreach to customers and modeling work supporting the plan.
The Lower Colorado River Authority board on Nov. 12 approved a water supply resource report staff said was years in the making and intended to guide project selection to reach 60,000 acre‑feet by 2040.
"We have determined a flight of 6 17 strategies that we're putting in this report that we can use, move forward, kind of continue to study them to figure out which projects are going to be the next projects in line for us to get to that 60,000 acre feet by the year 2040," Monica Masters, staff presenter, said. Masters credited modeling work by staff members (Tom Hagemeyer, Collins, Leonard) and outreach meetings with large customers.
Masters said the team had met with most large customers and incorporated demand inputs into the modeling. The board voted to approve the report after brief discussion and thanked staff for the multi‑year effort. With approval, staff said it is ready to begin next steps, which include continuing study of candidate projects and moving priorities into project development.
