Salvation Army in Sierra Vista seeks volunteers for kettle campaign, details Thanksgiving and Angel Tree programs

"This is our biggest fundraiser that we do throughout the year," Captain Christie Church said, adding the kettles account for roughly 10'15% of the local operating budget and directly support holiday programs.
Programs described included an upcoming Thanksgiving turkey giveaway (sign-up required; giveaway Monday, Nov. 24), grocery assistance for furloughed employees (contact christy.church@usw.salvationarmy.org), two Thanksgiving lunches (11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.), Angel Tree tags for children and an "adopt a family" program for whole-family support. The Salvation Army also noted an online kettle option via QR codes placed at kettle stands.
The guests asked for food donations (canned goods), monetary gifts and volunteers to cook meals or ring kettles at area stores including Fry's, Walmart, Safeway, Food City and Dillard's. The Salvation Army office is located at 180 East Wilcox.
