Lincoln County approves up to $250,000 in additional funding for jail repairs

Sheriff Jared reported that the jail kitchen plumbing and trustee area repairs are functioning and that showers upstairs are nearing completion; the county has ordered new faucets and shower heads and contractors are preparing CAD drawings for door replacements. County staff said Ted Kirkland performed an electrical assessment and has ordered materials to replace lights, and concrete work to repair block around bathrooms is scheduled.
Chairman moved to appropriate the funds; Commissioner Clyde made the motion and Commissioner Antonakis seconded. No roll-call tally with named votes was recorded in the transcript; the board voiced approval and the motion carried.
What happens next: County staff will proceed with the procurement and installation of the listed repairs and manage payment from T-SPLOST 7, and staff indicated a desire to complete work promptly with a target to finish as soon as practicable (Chairman noted a preference to have some work done by Christmas).
