A representative of the Community Foundation told commissioners the foundation has awarded millions in scholarships and grants over its history and thanked local donors and leaders for support. The commission adopted the proclamation by voice vote.
Separately, the commission recognized Chancey Smith of Dickinson County Emergency Management with a Quilt of Valor. Jeanne Livingston and volunteers explained the Quilt of Valor program's origin, its purpose to honor veterans and the local committee's work presenting quilts stitched by volunteers.
Commissioners paused the meeting for a short photo and thanked foundation leaders and volunteers for their work in the community.
The proclamation was adopted and will be retained in the county's record; the Quilt of Valor was presented during the meeting and the recipient and presenters were acknowledged on the record.
