Shelbyville council reschedules December meeting, highlights toy drive and holiday programs

During the Nov. 13 meeting the Shelbyville City Council voted to change its regularly scheduled Dec. 11 meeting to Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m. Council discussed calendar conflicts related to an MTSU event and confirmed staff will place public notices and newspaper ads and post changes on the city website so residents are informed.
City Clerk Lisa Smith also announced several community programs: city offices will be closed Nov. 27–28 for Thanksgiving; the downtown merchant holiday window decorating contest registration is open with winners announced on Dec. 11; the Shelbyville Fire Department’s toy drive will accept new, unopened toys at City Hall and the recreation center through Dec. 12 for Bedford County children; and a Letters to Santa mailbox will be available Nov. 20–Dec. 18 with return-address instructions so Santa’s elves can respond.
