Macedonia council votes down two related RV-parking ordinances after limited public support

Council members on Nov. 13 voted down two related ordinances that would have changed recreational-vehicle parking rules in residential districts.
Speaker 1, who led the discussion, told colleagues he had heard from “maybe one person who was in favor of this and one person who repeatedly informed me that they’re opposed,” and recommended removing the measures from the agenda rather than advancing them now. Staff and other council members said the police were not actively enforcing the provision as written and that several residents misunderstood the scope of changes.
After debate, the council moved to pass and post Ordinance 55 and then recorded the result as a negative voice vote; the clerk announced “Ordinance 55 fails.” The companion measure, Ordinance 64, was offered for second and third readings and likewise failed after a roll/voice vote.
Supporters earlier argued the ordinances would clarify parking rules; opponents and some residents said the proposed language created confusion and would not affect properly parked RVs. Chief Yakupovich (police) told the council the department was not currently enforcing the problematic behavior described in the ordinance language.
The council did not adopt either ordinance and left open the option to revisit the subject from scratch at a future meeting if interest or evidence of a need increases.
