A board member assigned to the Sugar Creek Elementary property negotiations provided an update at the Nov. 13 meeting, describing a possible plan to split the site into two parcels so the Educational Service Center (ESC) could purchase the one‑story building while the remainder would be offered to the City of Bellbrook and the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) for future redevelopment.
The board member said about four public entities are involved in the discussions and that negotiating among them lengthens the timeline. Proposed uses for the second parcel discussed informally include City parking, a Lions Club clubhouse that could serve seniors and community groups, amphitheater space, a splash pad and improved restroom facilities for Sackett Park. The board member cautioned that redevelopment is not expected immediately and would be a phased effort.
A joint meeting with the City of Bellbrook, Sugar Creek Township and the Park District is scheduled for the coming Monday to continue work on the proposal. The board said it will discuss details further as negotiations proceed.
