Bellbrook‑Sugarcreek board approves consent agenda, personnel moves, fee changes and $2,000 donation

The Bellbrook‑Sugarcreek Local Board of Education approved a slate of consent items at its Nov. 13 meeting, including personnel moves, student fee changes for the district music program, adoption of model special‑education policies and acceptance of a $2,000 donation for a playground project.

Board members voted unanimously to approve minutes for Oct. 9 and Oct. 23 and accepted the monthly financial statements for October. The treasurer reported the district has completed 33% of the fiscal year, with revenues “over 33%” and expenditures near 33%, summarizing that fiscally the district is “doing good this year.”

The consent agenda included certificated and support‑staff employment actions. Superintendent presentation noted an internal transfer moving Steve Nuttall from third‑shift custodian to maintenance assistant following the appointment of Ray Watts as maintenance supervisor. The board approved recommended student fee amendments for the 2025‑26 music program, citing higher costs for indoor percussion and winter guard.

The board also approved the Ohio Department of Education’s 2025‑26 model special‑education policies and procedures as presented by the district’s special‑education director. Separately, the board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Sugar Creek Education Association to add a staff mentor position (a counselor) for the 2025‑26 school year and approved high school varsity indoor track participation for 2026 as a routine annual item.

Trustees accepted a $2,000 cash donation from the Bellbrook Lions Club to buy stencils for the recently resurfaced playground pavement at Bell Creek Intermediate; the board thanked the Lions Club for the contribution.

All motions on the consent agenda passed by recorded roll call votes with five yeses and no recorded no or abstain votes.
