Board confirms two volunteer appointments to DRB and Friends of Reston

The Reston Association Board of Directors approved two volunteer appointments on Nov. 13.
After interviews earlier in the meeting, the board voted to appoint Ramon Pardo as a lay member to the Design Review Board. Pardo introduced himself as a longtime Reston resident who sells real estate, has family history on the DRB, and organizes a community event at Lake Anne. Directors asked about conflicts of interest related to his real-estate work; Pardo said he would remain unbiased when matters presented conflicts.
The board also appointed Mary Sheplock to the Friends of Reston board. Sheplock described years of volunteer experience in Reston (PTA, Reston Runners, community fund work) and emphasized outreach and awareness goals for Friends of Reston.
Both appointments were made after the board returned from executive session and were approved by voice vote.
