Council Rock board recognizes National Merit students and student advisory reports

The Council Rock School District board opened its Nov. 13 meeting by recognizing 13 National Merit scholars from Council Rock High School South and hearing reports from the school’s student advisory board and Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) representatives.
Principal Anthony Venezio introduced the National Merit commended students and semifinalists and invited the board for a photograph. Venezio described the students’ placement in the National Merit program, noting commended scholars (top ~3%) and semifinalists (top ~1%). “I am proud to present to you…Council Rock High School South National Merit commended students,” Venezio said during the presentation.
Student advisory board members reported on recent school events, athletics records and fundraising activities. Arthur Kiss reviewed senior‑class plans and senior‑trip dates, including payment deadlines; Daniel Thomas and other SAB representatives summarized fall athletics accomplishments and community service initiatives. An MBIT student said the institute won multiple regional recognitions and announced an MBIT open house on Nov. 20.
The board thanked the students for their reports and applauded MBIT program successes. The recognitions and student reports took place in the meeting’s opening agenda and were separate from later facilities and budget discussions.
