Longview City Council approved a resolution on Nov. 13 directing the city manager to execute documents to purchase several pieces of fire apparatus from Pierce Manufacturing, including a mid‑mount platform (ladder) and a rescue engine, at a combined total of approximately $8,436,004.78.
Fire Chief Greg Grimes described the equipment and procurement. Council members asked technical questions about the mid‑mount configuration and maximum extension; Chief Grimes said the ladder extends to about 107 feet. The purchase motion passed by voice vote.
