Monroe County approves JAG interlocal and intercounty bridge repair agreement with Owen County

Monroe County commissioners on Nov. 13 approved two interlocal items: the county’s share of a Justice Assistance Grant and an intercounty agreement to repair Owen County Bridge No. 209.
Miss Turner King said the county receives 7% of the city’s JAG funds this year—$3,093—calculated from violent-crime statistics; the county’s intended use for the funds is taser cartridges. “Procedurally, the council has already approved the interlocal,” Turner King said; the commissioners approved the ordinance by voice vote (3-0).
Miss Bridge described the interlocal with Owen County to repair the approaches for Bridge No. 209 at the county line. Three quotes were obtained; EMB submitted the lowest quote of $46,500 to repair approaches on both sides. Monroe County will manage and schedule the work and seek reimbursement from Owen County; Monroe’s share of the expense will be $23,250. Commissioners praised the cooperative effort and approved the ordinance 3-0.
Both agreements will be executed by staff following county procedures.
