Monroe County ratifies $87,486.78 Smithville Telephone reimbursement for Moores Creek stormwater project

County project staff told the board the Smithville Telephone utility reimbursement relates to work completed as part of the Moores Creek Stip Road stormwater project. The staff member said the utility reimbursement agreement was executed in 2024 by a previous project manager but was not presented to the commissioners at the time.
"The work has been completed. We have been working with Smithville to get this invoice for a long time. We finally did receive it. We need to pay it," staff told the board, explaining the ratification would correct the administrative omission.
A motion was made and seconded to ratify the Smithville Telephone Utility Reimbursement for the Moores Creek Stip Road project for $87,486.78 charged to stormwater fund 1197. The board approved the ratification by voice vote, 3-0. Staff said they will also note the payment at the December stormwater award meeting and seek additional council appropriation if needed to fully clear the project accounting.
The board's action ratified the earlier agreement and authorized payment; staff will pursue any necessary follow-up to reconcile project accounting.
