City approves $110,531 SMART contract to continue senior and community transit services

The Dearborn Heights City Council on Nov. 13 approved a 2026 SMART contract in the amount of $110,531 to continue community and senior transportation services.
Councilman Ray Muscat moved to approve the four‑year SMART contract for $110,531 and authorized the mayor to sign on the city's behalf. The Parks and Recreation director said the contract continues the bus and transportation services used for senior trips and other community needs.
"It's just a continuation of the bus service and transportation service for all the senior services, trips and everywhere they need to go," the Parks & Recreation director said. Council approved the contract by voice vote.
The council did not discuss contract amendments or service changes during the meeting; staff said the money will be used for community transit services as outlined in the meeting packet.
