The Iberia Parish Council voted on a set of consent and action items during the Oct. 22, 2025 meeting, approving several routine resolutions and introducing ordinances for future hearings.
Among the items approved were a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of up to $1,800,000 in limited-tax revenue bonds for Fire Protection District No. 1, and resolutions granting substantial completion for Waterworks District No. 3 projects completed by Southern Constructors LLC and NCMC LLC as recommended by project engineers. The council also certified prerequisites to participate in the DOTD off-system bridge replacement program for 2025.
Budget amendments approved included a $5,000 amendment to the Fire Protection District No. 1 fund for communications-tower repairs (funded from fund balance) and an $1,000,000 carryover to provide funding for a previously approved ARPA broadband project. The council also approved smaller transfers for road maintenance and an $180,000 EDD allocation to run a waterline to Highway 90 East.
The clerk read and the council introduced an ordinance to revise Economic Development District No. 1 boundaries and to authorize a sales tax levy in the new areas; that ordinance was set for publication and will return to the council at the next EDD meeting for public hearing and adoption.
Votes on the consent items and resolutions were recorded by roll call and passed as presented in the meeting packet. The council adjourned following completion of the agenda.
