Staff and commissioners discussed leasing versus purchasing and whether surplus vehicles could be auctioned.
Commissioners reiterated that staffing is the limiting factor for drainage operations and that hiring or contracting will be required to accelerate canal-clearing work. One commissioner asked for a five-year drainage master plan and an estimate to be added to the budget process; staff agreed to develop an estimate and stage work because the full cost will be substantial.
