Laredo ISD trustees elect Guiller Lopez as board president; officers named

Trustee Guiller Lopez was nominated and elected board president for the coming year; outgoing president Juan Ramirez Jr. delivered a farewell address. Trustees also nominated Veronique Orduna (vice president), Rudy Morales (secretary) and Gus Perez (parliamentarian).
At the Nov. 13 meeting the Laredo ISD Board of Trustees reorganized officer positions for the coming year.
Trustee Juan Ramirez Jr. placed a nomination for Guiller Lopez to serve as board president; the nomination was seconded and approved by the board. Ramirez—who served as board president for the prior two years—delivered a lengthy remarks thanking colleagues, staff and the community for the opportunity to serve. "Serving you has been one of the greatest blessings of my life," Ramirez said in his prepared remarks.
Trustee Guiller Lopez and other trustees then nominated Veronique Orduna for vice president, Rudy Morales for secretary, and Gus Perez for parliamentarian; the board voted to carry those officer appointments.
The board confirmed the new officer slate by voice vote. Ramirez said he will continue to serve on the board and pledged support to the new president.
