Blackett said the OIG will accept reports via a tip line at (404) 546-2271 (8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily) and by email at inspectorgeneral@atlantaga.gov. She said the office aims to balance independence with cooperation, offering both confidentiality protections and regular engagement with council members to ensure investigations are useful for policymaking.
"Independence does not mean isolation," Blackett told the council. She said the OIG will transmit case summaries to the governing board and make investigations open to public review when the board hears matters.
Council members thanked Blackett for the briefing and noted the importance of a transparent, well-staffed OIG office to rebuild confidence in city oversight.
