The Brazos River Authority voted to authorize the general manager/CEO to grant a nonexclusive access easement to Little L Land Conservancy LLC over a roughly 99.5‑acre tract in the Bee Mountain area (Somerville County). The easement will permit limited property management, recreation and conservancy activities — including maintenance of an existing unpaved maintenance road, walking and equestrian trails, removal of invasive species, restoration burns with Texas Parks and Wildlife consultation, periodic camping for nonprofit events, and one small kayak ramp subject to Corps of Engineers approval.
Riley Woods, senior staff counsel, said the tract originally was acquired from J.G. Little in 1953 and has a complicated history (an earlier buyback program ended in 2002). BRA staff described the proposed easement as nonexclusive and expressly limited: no permanent improvements, no commercial use without BRA approval, no subdividing of the easement, and activities must not conflict with BRA operations. The grantee must maintain general liability insurance and indemnify BRA; violation of terms could result in termination of the easement.
The board read the resolution and approved granting an easement in a form satisfactory to the Authority, subject to finalization of terms presented to the board.
