Village Administrator (Speaker 8) told trustees he had solicited quotes and that D & H provided the $50,791 figure for demolition and site clearance; staff also confirmed the village still has the bulk of the previously borrowed $100,000 available and recommended using that money now to secure the site. Administrator said WEDC's Idle Sites grant could cover 25% of demolition costs (a 3:1 match), reducing the village share to $12,697, but warned that applying now for that small grant could make the site ineligible for larger infrastructure grants later.
Trustees asked whether the village had run an RFP for demolition; staff said an RFP was not completed but that staff solicited multiple quotes and considered the price favorable. One trustee said he would prefer an RFP but the administrator expressed concern about ongoing liability at the site if demolition were delayed.
The committee passed a motion recommending the demolition contract be forwarded to the village board for approval and to be paid from the FlowerSource debt issuance funds, with a 2'to'1 vote in favor and 1 opposed.
