Board says Triton Construction named construction manager; master project list eyed for spring bond

Jim, a board member on the Facilities Committee, reported that two firms responded to the construction-manager RFP and, after interviews with committee members and district staff, the committee selected Triton Construction. “We made a decision between the 2 well qualified candidates to go with Triton construction,” Jim said. He said the board approved Triton at a special Board of Education meeting on Oct. 27 and that the firm has begun work and will meet with district staff this week to begin project scoping.

Jim said the district combined the architects’ building condition survey with the facilities committee’s prior list to create a single master list of candidate projects. John and Walter Moran (board members mentioned as involved in facilities work) are scheduled to review that list with the construction manager, with the goal of preparing a set of projects to present to voters in a spring bond proposition.

The facilities update also flagged urgent maintenance: committee members raised a need to replace a boiler and to upgrade the building’s fire alarm system, and discussed longer-term space constraints, including whether to expand existing buildings or consider a fourth elementary school. Jim emphasized those items are being weighed alongside routine upkeep and lifecycle work.

The Facilities Committee did not take a formal vote on these topics during tonight’s meeting; Jim described the Triton approval as having occurred at an Oct. 27 special meeting. The board did not provide contract numbers or dollar amounts in the meeting record.
