County staff told supervisors October county half-cent sales tax was slightly below projection but year-to-date figures could leave the county roughly $1.1 million to $1.25 million above projections if trends hold; staff also said the Auditor General will issue the audit next Monday and a presentation must be scheduled within 90 days.
County Administrator Derek Rapier presented the monthly revenue review and said the county half-cent sales tax projection for October was $120,000 a month and that October was about $4,000 below that projection. Rapier said early-year performance could leave the county approximately $92,000 ahead of schedule if current trends persist, but he cautioned that figures are preliminary and likely to normalize.
On shared state sales tax, Rapier said receipts were stronger than projected: "If things held as it is, we would be, about a million 1,100,000.0 over our projected revenue" and later said combined county and shared-state receipts could be about $1,250,000 over projections if trends hold. He characterized the numbers as helpful for setting a baseline for the FY27 budget but reiterated that budgeting law prevents spending beyond what is budgeted.
Separately, staff told the board the State Auditor General is expected to issue the county audit next Monday and the board must schedule a meeting within 90 days for the Auditor General to present the audit; staff will propose dates and notify the board.
