Pennsauken Township on Nov. 17 held a special meeting to swear in 15 personnel across the Pennsauken Fire Department, including emergency medical technicians, newly sworn firefighters and promotions to lieutenant and captain.

Mayor Roberts opened the evening’s special portion of the meeting to recognize members of the fire department and thanked the recruits, promoted members and their families for their service. “We offer our deepest gratitude and heartfelt congratulations to all of you,” officials said during introductory remarks.

Chief Put thanked families and township leadership, called the night historic and said the swearing-in spanned hires and promotions across ranks. Deputy Chief Clark was also recognized during remarks thanking township administration for its support of the department.

EMTs Phoebe Carlin, Elena Matthews and Madeleina Maggio took the oath of office to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of New Jersey and to obey department rules. A group of firefighters were sworn in, including Kyle Borger, Zachary Eschling, Zachary Irwin, Jack Sadano, Matthew O'Donnell, Michael Stam Jr., Thomas Constantine and Robert Fox.

Lieutenant Joseph Magliori and other members were sworn in or acknowledged for promotion to lieutenant. Captains Justin Squibb and Norman Bigger were sworn in to the rank of fire captain.

Officials invited uniformed members to the front of the room for group photos and closed the ceremony by thanking the department and wishing the sworn members a safe career of service.

The committee then resumed the regular meeting agenda.
