Ernest Meunier, a member of the Bicycle Advisory Commission, described the commission's longstanding practice of supplying bike light kits and helmets to schoolchildren and outlined bureaucratic friction over how donations are processed and recorded by city departments. Meunier asked for a clearer, more direct means to receive and account for donations so the commission can order gear and deliver it promptly.
Councilor Singh moved to amend the donation acceptance to request confirmation that the funds were placed in the bicycle commission’s account; Vice President Collins moved approval as amended. The council voted by roll call with affirmative votes and the motion passed. Members thanked Beacon Bank for the contribution and asked administration to streamline donation accounting so commissions can access donated funds without delay.
