Pontiac’s City Council authorized a citywide fleet leasing program with Enterprise after staff presented the expected benefits and structure.
City Administrator Wolford described the lease as a lease-to-own model with no mileage restrictions, integrated maintenance tracking and fleet management software accessible to city mechanics, and an expected $309,000 net savings over 10 years. The initial deal covers 14 vehicles across departments (streets, fire, police, building and zoning, tourism, wastewater treatment plant). Staff said some upfront costs (title and 50% of third-party equipment like police light bars) would be due at delivery and lead times could be 16 weeks or longer.
Jerry Causer moved to approve authorization for the city administrator to sign the master lease documents; Jamie Bradshaw seconded and the council approved the motion by roll call.
