Manager reports FAA discretionary funding meeting, land‑release work and tennis-center lease

Airport Manager Janelle gave the commission several operational updates during the manager’s report.
She said the state of Michigan informed the airport it expects to meet with the Federal Aviation Administration about discretionary funding in January or February; staff will share more details as they become available. Janelle also said she is advancing a land‑release application for a wooded parcel north of Midway between Midway and Meridian School, working with the state and arranging an appraisal to determine value and next steps.
Janelle noted a family is donating a bench to the airport nature area near the Gibraltar Bay entrance and that the airport continues to host nature‑based walks in partnership with the Graciel Nature and Land Conservancy (next bird walk set for Dec. 14 at 3 p.m.). She reported the tennis‑center lease has been executed, insurance certificate received, and the tenant has begun property cleanup and initial HVAC checks.
The commission had no additional subcommittee or member reports and adjourned the meeting.
